BEING A SCIENTIST IN AFRICA

I wanted to help my community because most of the things that happen around them, most people don't believe it's about science, they associate it with their culture and superstitions. If they were enlightened about what's taking place: climate changes, the development in the world, they would not be afraid to embrace change.

WHY I STUDY SCIENCE

To disprove my colleagues that it is not possible. Because they always say that females are not supposed to study science. And they discourage you. Actually according to the Africans, they don't value educating a child, a girl child. But a girl child has a right to learn. At my age, I'm right now getting opposition from my aunties, they're asking me why I'm wasting my time studying instead of getting my own home. But I have to study. I'd love to be a role model in science to other ladies in Africa, not only in physics and space science but in science in general, because science is broader. And for you to become a role model, you have to lead the way. I know there are many ladies like me in science, but they get lost, they resign, they disappear, or they don't stand up and speak because they're shy. If you want to be a role model, you have to be strong.

WHY I LIKE SPACE

The universe soon could also become like a global village, because soon with technology, people think that like can exist on Mars. Such are the inventions that are going on. Which makes us all feel, “Let's take an adventure into space and see.” Because I feel that one day, I could step on the moon, one day I could step on the planet Mars, one day, who knows, Mercury maybe? (but for the hotness of the sun). We don't know, but one day it could be possible. I want to learn more about outer-space. From the religious point of view, we know that heaven is upward. I want to go up there to see the sky and that heaven.
