MY MISSION

Space flight can be divided into several phases from the launch to the approach and the docking of the transport vehicle with the space station. My colleagues and I teach cosmonauts how to perform approach and docking. In case of emergency during the flight phases the cosmonauts have to know how to control the vehicle manually. This is what we teach them – how to perform docking in manual mode.

MY PATH TO SPACE

Cosmonautics has been always interested me. I read a lot about it, and followed its history and development. My family has a direct relation to the development of cosmonautics and my father flew into space several times. Space is a family tradition. I entered a technical institute to get an engineering degree and graduated from the Moscow institute of physics and engineering having specialised in applied physics and mathematics. My father always dreamed of me working here to carry on the family tradition. It’s a great passion of mine because of my upbringing. After an attempt to work in other fields like the car industry, I realised that working here was what interested me the most and the thing I liked the most.

MY ADVICE TO SPACE GIRLS

To start with, you should read space history to find out about the major events and facts relating to space. The stories of cosmonauts. Then it gets interesting and turns into a dream. After that you should join a technical institute. If that’s your interest and if that’s your dream, it’ll be easier to study. It’s not scary. It’s not difficult. Girls are often shy. But you should believe in yourself and have confidence. Then you will find success. Don’t be afraid of working with men, try to do what you want to do, and if what you want is to fly into space then your dream will come true.
